Dexter
Cattle
We have a small herd of Dexter Cattle. Dexters are an old, small
breed from Ireland. They are a triple purpose breed (meat, milk,
and oxen). They are hardy and gentle. The bulls measure under 44" at
the shoulder and the females under 42". They come in three
colors: black, red and dun. We have all three colors of Dexters. Click
here to see our Dexter calves for sale.
This is Mister Dream, our previous herd sire. He recently went
to live in Mississippi. We miss him, but know his new family is
enjoying
him! We kept one of his sons to breed.

Above is Seamo, our red herd sire. Behind him in the background is Anni, our oldest cow who was born in 1991. She currently has a nice bull calf.

Above are Stephanie and her new red heifer calf.

Above is our Bull, Barry Bob, being sprayed with fly spray, which he hates :). Barry Bob is a carrier of the chondrodysplasia gene. He is also brindle, but his DNA test shows him as red.

It must be feed time. Sweet Sally and her mother, Monnine.

Above is Stephanie when she was a calf. You can see that she is not really black looking, but she is obviously black now. Her dam is dun and her sire is red. Her new heifer calf that she just had is red.

Beautiful Dexters in the grass.
